( March 11, 2025, 14:40 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A US appeals court denied a petition brought by Public Knowledge, Open Technology Institute, and Benton Institute for Broadband & Society to rehear a case over the Federal Communications Commission’s decision to classify consumer broadband as a Title II service. The Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit previously held that because consumers use broadband internet access service to send and retrieve data stored elsewhere, it therefore is not a telecommunications service, but rather an “information service,” which must fall outside the scope of Title II.See attached document....
