Google says special master can't rule on trial evidence in Texas adtech case

( March 6, 2025, 19:34 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Google said in a court filing that the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure do not allow a court-appointed special master to decide who can testify and make other rulings about evidence at a forthcoming antitrust and privacy trial over Google's adtech business. "Rule 53(a)(1)(C) does not permit the Court to delegate to the Special Master authority to rule on trial matters including (as Plaintiffs’ motion argues) deciding which deposition testimony may be received as evidence, which exhibits may be admitted in evidence, and which witnesses may testify," Google told US District Judge Sean Jordan.
