Final Google remedy proposal in US DOJ suit involves default search deal with Apple

( March 8, 2025, 01:41 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Google submitted its final remedy proposal in the government's Internet search monopolization lawsuit and said it won't enter any agreement requiring Apple to set Google Search as the default search engine in the US with respect to any proprietary Apple feature or functionality unless there was express permission to promote any third-party service. This includes Siri and Spotlight, Apple told the US District Court for the District of Columbia while specifying an exception. Google also proposed it not enter into any agreement requiring a browser developer to set Google Search as the browser default search engine in a third-party browser. Google also proposed not entering into any agreement with a mobile device manufacturer that conditions the licensing of Google Play or any other app on that device manufacturer also distributing, preloading, placing, displaying, using, or licensing the Chrome browser app on devices, it said.   See attached document...
