Amount of Google revenue loss from third-party cookies can't be sealed, US judge says

( March 6, 2025, 10:49 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A federal judge has denied Google's request to seal an expert witnesses estimate that the company would have lost $1.69 billion by blocking third-party cookies over a five-year period in privacy litigation over the Chrome browser's "Incognito" mode. "The Court rules as follows: the topline figure as to how much Google may lose in revenue by blocking third-party cookies by default shall not be sealed. That number bears directly on the public’s ability to evaluate the terms of the proposed settlement," US District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers said in an order granting in part and denying in part Google's sealing motions.
