Meta, Princeton file replies for judgment in Planner 5D’s US data-scraping suit

( March 5, 2025, 23:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Meta Platforms and Princeton University filed replies in support of summary judgment against Planner 5D’s copyright infringement claims over its three-dimensional designs, saying that they insubstantial evidence to show that the datasets Meta used are substantially similar to any of P5D’s works. “Instead, it argues substantial similarity is not required, but that is a gross misstatement of law at odds with years of caselaw requiring substantial similarity, including law from this very court. On copyright ownership, it relies on general statements that making 3D objects and scenes necessarily requires creativity, but fails to provide any evidence of ‘specific and demonstrable creative choices’ it made in preparing such works, despite this court requiring it do so,” they argued.See attached files....
