Divided UK panel won't pull Avanci into Tesla, InterDigital patent row

By Martin Coyle and Melissa Ritti ( March 6, 2025, 12:48 GMT | Insight) -- The UK Court of Appeal today blocked an effort by Tesla to secure a determination of global fair, reasonable and nondiscriminatory, or Frand, terms to the entire Avanci 5G standard essential patent, or SEP, portfolio.  While Judge Richard Arnold said he would allow the appeal against Avanci as well as SEP owner InterDigital, his fellow panel members reached the opposite conclusion.Tesla has failed to persuade a London appeal court to reinstate its claim for a determination of fair, reasonable and nondiscriminatory, or Frand, terms for a global license to 5G patents....
