Korean Air merger remedies to be overseen by KFTC, Transport Ministry

( March 6, 2025, 07:10 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A set of remedies, required as a condition for the South Korean competition regulator’s approval of Korean Air’s acquisition of Asiana Airlines, will be monitored by the Korea Fair Trade Commission and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. The two ministries signed a memorandum of understanding today to oversee Korean Air's implementation of these remedies. A compliance-monitoring committee, authorized by the two ministries, will be responsible for overseeing the implementation process over the next 10 years. The KFTC adjusted remedies initially required for Korean Air’s acquisition of Asiana Airlines to reflect completed reviews by foreign competition authorities in December.The statement, in Korean, is attached....
