US DOJ seeks forfeiture of $9.5 million in transmigrante antitrust suit

( March 4, 2025, 22:29 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Department of Justice filed an unopposed motion for a preliminary order of forfeiture against defendant Carlos Martinez for various property and a $9.5 million personal money judgment as part of its criminal price-fixing and monopolization case against individuals in the transmigrante industry. In a filing to the Southern District of Texas, the DOJ said Martinez agreed in his plea agreement that he obtained at least $9,500,000 from the criminal offenses, and that the factual basis of the guilty plea supports the forfeiture of the entire sum. The DOJ said a personal money judgment should be imposed in that amount which was agreed to by Martinez.See attached document...
