RealPage move for sanctions in rent-fixing suit should be denied, DC AG says

( March 3, 2025, 22:49 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The District Of Columbia attorney general's office said it conducted a reasonable inquiry into RealPage's allegedly anticompetitive rent price-fixing activity and that the company's motion for sanctions against DC should be denied. In an opposition to RealPage's motion filed with the Superior Court for the District of Columbia, the DC AG said its complaint alleged additional facts pertaining to the steps RealPage took to ensure landlords implemented the rents set by its software including: the creation of barriers for overriding RealPage’s pricing recommendation. "Despite taking the extreme step of seeking sanctions, RealPage fails to identify any evidence that the challenged allegation is false, nor did it provide any before filing its motion," the DC filing said. Even if the statement were "provably false — which it is not — sanctions would not be warranted," it said.See attached document....
