USPTO ‘going back to basics,’ acting director says as cuts loom

In an address to attendees of the AUTM Annual Meeting near Washington, Stewart defended recent initiatives taken by the new Trump administration and hinted at potential Patent Trial and Appeal Board reform, pointing to "abuse" by some of post-grant review proceedings.US Patent and Trademark Office Acting Director Coke Stewart today defended controversial Trump administration executive orders in one of her first major speaking engagements since being tapped to lead the agency on an interim basis.
