UK public support new online safety act, child safety campaign group says

( March 5, 2025, 00:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The majority of the UK public — 85 percent — would support a new Online Safety Act that would strengthen safety for children, according to polling by the Molly Rose Foundation. Almost two-thirds support stricter safety policies, even if at the expense of tech investment, the study found. The first main part of the existing law comes into effect on March 17, but the campaign group highlights the regulator’s lack of measures to tackle the online promotion of suicide and self-harm in its code of practice.Statement attached....
