NHL, CHL must face US antitrust claims in court, players argue

( February 28, 2025, 23:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Junior hockey players bringing US antitrust claims against the National Hockey League opposed a motion to dismiss, saying they have standing and have properly shown an anticompetitive scheme. They said it’s clear that the alleged boycott reduced opportunities and compensation because once the leagues announced their plan to eliminate it, players who had been playing in other leagues to preserve their National Collegiate Athletic Association eligibility flocked to the CHL, which promptly announced plans for “aggressive expansion” to address the influx of talent.
