China's market regulators tackle 140,000 unfair competition cases in 2024

( March 3, 2025, 04:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China's market regulators nationwide tackled about 140,000 unfair competition cases in 2024, the State Administration for Market Regulation, or SAMR, told a recent national symposium on price supervision and anti-unfair competition. In a statement, SAMR said regulators investigated 5,165 unfair online competition cases last year, marking a 136 percent surge from 2023. This year, regulators plan to crack down on unfair online competition practices, like false advertising, traffic hijacking and commercial defamation. They also plan to target "involutionary competition" —  a type of destructive zero-sum competition — and strengthen price oversight in key industries, the statement added. The statement follows:...
