Commercial Metals, Danieli seek new US antitrust trial in Pacific Steel case
( December 20, 2024, 12:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Pacific Steel Group did not present sufficient evidence to prevail at trial in its US antitrust claims that Commercial Metals Company and Danieli Corporation conspired to exclude it from the market for steel reinforcing bar manufacturing, the defendants told a US judge. The evidence showed that existing competitors could expand their capacity and alternatives were available, that Pacific Steel did not prove its relevant geographic market or that Commercial Metals had market power, and that it failed to prove that the contested exclusivity agreement caused it to suffer any material harm, the defendants said in a brief supporting a motion for judgment and new trial filed to the Northern District of California.See attached document:...
