Apple says age verification responsibility falls on apps, platforms, not app stores

As age assurance and minor safety become an increasingly hot topic for lawmakers all over the world, the question in the EU of who is responsible for keeping minors away from harmful content is yet to be determined: Meta has been advocating for age verification on the operating system level, while Apple thinks it should be in place only for some apps. Apple today announced changes to its child safety policies, including new controls for users under 18, but is still arguing that age assurance should be employed instead of strict age verification by app stores....
