Enforcement of Texas Scope Act further narrowed by federal judge

( February 7, 2025, 18:53 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A federal judge in Texas has granted in part a preliminary injunction motion against the Texas Securing Children Online Through Parental Empowerment (SCOPE) Act, ruling that the law's monitoring-and-filtering requirements and restrictions on targeted advertising to minors are likely unconstitutional and can't be enforced. The plaintiffs "have shown that HB 18 is a content-based statute and is therefore subject to strict scrutiny," US District Judge Robert Pitman wrote in the order. See attached document....
