Individuals must get understandable information on credit-score workings, top EU court says

( February 27, 2025, 09:29 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Individuals’ right to information under EU data protection rules about automated decision-making means that a data controller must describe the "procedure and principles" so that individuals can understand which of their personal data has been used, the EU's top court said today. If the controller believes the information includes a trade secret, it must inform an authority or court, which will balance the rights and interests at issue, the EU Court of Justice said in a judgment. The case stems from a dispute in Austria between an individual and Dun & Bradstreet Austria about access to information on the logic behind automated credit assessments.Press release follows and ruling is attached....
