China's procuratorates tackle over 4,800 cases on data protection, fraud in 2024

( February 26, 2025, 03:25 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China's procuratorates handled 4,848 public-interest litigation cases nationwide related to personal-information protection and anti-telecom network fraud from January to November 2024, Zhang Xueqiao, the deputy procurator-general of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, announced at a press conference. These cases involve personal-information breaches by travel agencies, express delivery companies, medical institutions and real estate agents, as well as illegal collection and acquisition of personal data by Internet companies.
