Expedite Meador's confirmation to FTC, conservative groups tell US lawmakers

( February 25, 2025, 19:52 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Eleven advocacy groups wrote to the US Senate Commerce Committee asking to expedite Mark Meador’s confirmation for the role of Federal Trade Commissioner as he plays an essential role for the agency in tackling the anticompetitive and anti-consumer conduct by Big Tech platforms, pharmaceutical companies and harms caused to young people through anxiety-inducing social media. "We believe Mr. Meador is essential to realizing the President’s goal because of the important role the FTC plays in regulating markets and consumer protection. Indeed, the FTC is one of our premier competition regulators. It evaluates predatory pricing and can bring suit against unlawful cartels that manipulate food prices, our rent, and distortions in the market caused by investors’ DEI and ESG agendas," the letter said.Statement follows.
