Former US privacy board members' lawsuit seeks confirmation of board's independence

"Not only do Plaintiffs’ removals eradicate a vital check on the infringement of ordinary Americans’ civil liberties, they also hobble an agency that Congress created to assist it with oversight of the executive branch,” LeBlanc and Felten said in the complaint.Two former Democratic members of the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board sued the board, its remaining Republican member and the Trump Administration today, telling a federal court their unlawful firing by President Trump harmed Americans’ civil liberties....
