EU 'weaponizing' Digital Markets Act against US firms, Republicans tell Ribera

( February 24, 2025, 22:46 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US House Judiciary Committee has sent a letter to European Commission Executive Vice-President Teresa Ribera to express concerns that the EU's Digital Markets Act may target American companies. Representatives Jim Jordan, chair of the committee, and Scott Fitzgerald, chair of the antitrust subcommittee, asked Ribera for a briefing before March 10 to understand the EU's approach to enforcing the DMA, its interactions with American gatekeepers, and ongoing enforcement efforts. Statements by members of the European Parliament "suggest that the European Commission’s goal is to remedy Europe’s economic downturn by weaponizing the DMA against American companies," they said in the letter.See attached document...
