US judge details rationale behind retrial in Pantech, OnePlus SEP row

Schroeder III of the Eastern District of Texas in a redacted order said a damages-only retrial is warranted in a dispute between Pantech and OnePlus over patents declared essential to the 5G Wi-Fi standard. According to Schroeder, there is “no question” that the $10.3 million awarded by jurors in March 2024 was excessive especially in view of “Pantech’s admission that its theories supporting a verdict higher than $3.4 million were never discussed before the jury.”See attached document....
