Croatian support to state-owned lumber company HŠ draws in-depth EU probe

HŠ is a state-owned company that has the exclusive rights to manage and commercially exploit the country’s public forests. The commission said it had concerns the aid gave HŠ an economic advantage over private forest owners. It also raised concerns about prices HŠ was offering to wood-processing companies, and whether those prices were decided by an independent company or by the Croatian state.Statement follows....
