Apple pulls highest-level data protection feature in the UK

This added layer of security, which is optional for users, protects cloud data with end-to-end encryption. Earlier this month, the company was reportedly asked by the UK government to give it access to users’ encrypted data under a controversial security law. While its statement today doesn’t mention the request, Apple said it’s “gravely disappointed the protections provided will not be available” for British customers.  Apple is pulling its highest-level data protection feature in the UK, the company announced in a statement today, after media reports earlier this month revealed the US corporation was reportedly asked by the UK government to give it access to encrypted data....
