Japanese pump maker Ebara violated subcontract law, antitrust regulator says

( February 20, 2025, 08:30 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Leading Japanese pump manufacturer Ebara was found to have violated the Subcontract Act by forcing its subcontractors to store wooden molds. According to the Japan Fair Trade Commission, the company, which supplies building and industrial items, compelled 176 subcontractors to store approximately 8,900 wooden molds without compensating them for storage fees. The Tokyo-based company was instructed today in a corrective recommendation to calculate and pay the storage fees and implement preventive measures, including training for its employees.
