Oxfam Australia revamps data security in response to 2021 breach

By James Panichi ( February 20, 2025, 06:28 GMT | Insight) -- The Australian chapter of global anti-poverty campaigner Oxfam says it has taken "major steps" to upgrade its systems to better safeguard the personal data it stores, after accepting a legally enforceable undertaking in response to a January 2021 data breach resulting in the loss of 1.7 million records. Chief Executive Lyn Morgain said Oxfam Australia had "already made considerable progress against the actions outlined" in its legal undertaking with Australian Privacy Commissioner Carly Kind, which was made public today.
