Ireland’s Marlin Semiconductor takes aim at Apple, Broadcom, others at USITC
By Melissa Ritti ( February 19, 2025, 14:08 GMT | Insight) -- The US International Trade Commission confirmed yesterday receipt of a complaint by Ireland’s Marlin Semiconductor and its licensing arm, who tout US-based Intel Corp. as a nonexclusive licensee, asserting infringement of various semiconductor structure and fabrication patents assigned to them by chipmaker United Microelectronics. At issue are Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company wafers and dies incorporated into a wide range of products, including Apple smartphones, Lenovo tablets and certain Broadcom “Tomahawk” integrated circuits.Marlin Semiconductor and Longitude Licensing are seeking a limited exclusion order in the US against Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), a supplier to some of the world’s leading technology companies....
