Public Knowledge, others ask US appeals court to revisit net neutrality rules

( February 18, 2025, 20:09 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Public Knowledge, Open Technology Institute, and Benton Institute for Broadband & Society asked a US appeals court to rehear a case over the Federal Communications Commission’s decision to classify consumer broadband as a Title II service. The Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit held that because consumers use broadband internet access service to send and retrieve data stored elsewhere, it therefore is not a telecommunications service, but rather an “information service,” which must fall outside the scope of Title II. The organizations said that the ruling conflicts with the DC Circuit’s interpretation of the statutory provisions and a Ninth Circuit holding. See attached file. ...
