Google to face second class action over its adtech practices in Australia

( January 31, 2025, 03:22 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Google is set to face a second antitrust class action lawsuit jointly filed by two Australian law firms over its alleged anticompetitive practices in the digital-advertising space. In a statement, Australian class action law firm Maurice Blackburn said that it will file the class-action lawsuit by Feb. 14 together with law firm Phi Finney McDonald. The leading applicants in the second class action are local publishers Riverine Grazier and Mornington Peninsula News Group. The statement added that this will be flagged at the first case-management hearing scheduled for Jan. 31 in the antitrust class-action filed by law firm Piper Alderman in December 2024. The local publishers will be alleging years of lower revenues because of Google's dominant market position and will seek compensation from the search giant.
