Increased competition crucial for Australia's airline sector, antitrust watchdog says

( February 18, 2025, 01:32 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Improved competition in Australia’s domestic airline sector is essential for maintaining lower airfares and better services for consumers, the country’s antitrust regulator said. In its most recent report on domestic airline competition, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission said that the country’s domestic airline sector maintains a duopoly market with only Qantas Group, which includes Jetstar, and Virgin Australia operating in major city routes.
