Ownership of YouTube videos wrongly transferred, Texas appeals court says

( February 13, 2025, 10:10 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A Texas state court judge lacked jurisdiction to order transfer of the ownership interest in dozens of YouTube videos held by a couple in order to satisfy a debt, the Court of Appeals of Texas, Fifth District ruled. "The ownership rights transferred as a remedy under state law . . .  were ‘exclusive rights within the scope of federal copyright’ and were therefore preempted," according to the panel.
