Cluj airport can be pursued for dominance abuse, top EU court says

( February 27, 2025, 09:49 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: EU laws requiring airports to grant service providers with access to infrastructure – but exempting airports with a low amount of passenger traffic – don't “preclude” competition authorities from pursuing suspected abuses of dominance, the EU’s top court said today. Today's ruling comes in response to a request for guidance by the Bucharest Court of Appeal in a dispute between Cluj International Airport and the Romanian antitrust authority. The airport is challenging a 1.7 million leu (about $360,000) fine for refusing to grant Romanian Airport Services with access to infrastructure needed to provide ground-handling services at the airport.
