Sysco-JBS deal bars Burford’s pork, chicken price-fixing claims, US judge says

( February 13, 2025, 23:36 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Sysco’s pork and beef price-fixing claims against JBS must be dismissed because a previously negotiated settlement bars Sysco from assigning those claims to third-party litigation funder Burford Capital, a Minnesota federal judge ruled. Even if Sysco’s claims are not entirely barred from litigation in Minnesota, the enforceability of the settlement agreement between Sysco and JBS is “precluded from further litigation” by a final judgement issued by US District Judge Thomas Durkin in Illinois, US Magistrate Judge John Docherty said in a report and recommendation filed in the District of Minnesota.See attached file....
