Edwards secures Dutch injunction against Meril’s heart valve device

( February 11, 2025, 15:57 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The District Court of The Hague has ordered Meril Life Sciences and its German subsidiary to stop selling its Myval transcatheter heart valves in the Netherlands, ruling that the devices infringe an Edwards Lifesciences patent. In a judgment published Monday, the court found that Meril’s product directly and indirectly infringes Edwards' amended European Patent 3,593,762 rejecting Meril’s challenges to its validity, including arguments based on prior art and double patenting. The ruling requires Meril and its Dutch distributor, Angiocare, to cease sales or face a 5,000 euro penalty per device, recall and destroy infringing products, and compensate Edwards for damages. Meril must also cover Edwards' 150,000 euros in legal costs.See court document in Dutch attached....
