Traders in EU to see start of EU evaluation of Geo-blocking Regulation

( February 11, 2025, 10:54 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Traders in the EU will see the European Commission begin a mandatory evaluation of the 2018 Geo-blocking Regulation. Under the law, traders can’t block or restrict access to websites and apps when customers are in other EU member states, or when conditions for obtaining goods and services depend on a customer’s location. The commission began a "call for evidence" that will lead to the law's evaluation. The EU executive will consider issues such as whether to expand the rules' scope to include copyright-protected content, including audiovisual, as well as territorial supply constraints. The evaluation will cover the period from Dec. 3 to Dec. 31, 2024.The call for evidence document is attached....
