Environmental agricultural project gets guidance from French competition watchdog

( February 5, 2025, 15:05 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Companies in the agricultural sector in France have received guidance from the national competition authority on the legality of an industry-wide project in development, scoring producers’ ecological credentials. The Autorité de la Concurrence said this was the first case it had examined that potentially falls under an EU exemption for farmers from the bloc’s competition laws. It stressed, among other things, the need for “objective, transparent and non-discriminatory conditions” for producers participating in the project, and the need to prevent the exchange of commercially sensitive information.
