No sanctions for US plaintiff suing over German religious text's English translation

By Melissa Ritti ( February 5, 2025, 14:05 GMT | Insight) -- A plaintiff won't be sanctioned in connection with its maintenance of a copyright infringement claim over publication of an English translation of the German religious text “Grundriss der katholischen Dogmatik.” Although agreeing with defendant Faithlife Corporation that the “terminology” in the 2022 complaint by Baronius Press was “confusing,” a US judge said yesterday it is now clear to her that Baronius asserts an interest in any English translation of Grundriss — including the version posted online by Faithlife.A plaintiff’s claim that it has reproduction rights for “an English-language edition” of “Grundriss der katholischen Dogmatik” is moving forward in in the US....
