UK Internet providers not taking advantage of softer rules, regulator says

The watchdog softened its “open Internet” rules – that seek to prevent unfair blocking or slowing of access to legal websites – in 2023 by allowing providers to occasionally adopt traffic management measures or offer premium and zero-rating packages. However, a new report shows providers haven’t “made major changes based on the additional flexibility” during the relevant period.BT, Sky, Virgin, Vodafone and other UK Internet providers were given softer rules on net-neutrality in 2023, but a report published yesterday by the national telecom regulator shows companies haven’t taken advantage of the extra flexibility just yet....
