Meta evaluates 'next steps' as Indian tribunal partly upholds CCI order

By Freny Patel ( January 24, 2025, 01:00 GMT | Insight) -- Meta Platforms is evaluating "next steps" after a tribunal partly upheld an Indian antitrust decision on the US company's messaging app, WhatsApp, for abusing its dominant position in the domestic market. The decision of the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal partially upheld the Competition Commission of India's order to grant WhatsApp users the right to opt out of data sharing with other Meta companies. Meta said that it will evaluate its next steps while prioritizing support for businesses and providing high-quality user experiences. The case will now proceed to a final hearing on March 17.
