New Zealand's Altano-Matamata Veterinary Services deal raises antitrust concerns

( January 23, 2025, 02:57 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The bid by Altano International GmbH’s subsidiary Altano New Zealand to acquire 100 percent of specialist horse-veterinary practice Matamata Veterinary Services has raised antitrust concerns for New Zealand’s competition regulator. In a statement of preliminary issues published today, the New Zealand Commerce Commission said that it will assess the degree of competitive constraint that Altano New Zealand and Matamata Veterinary Services impose on one another. The statement said that both companies provide veterinary services for horses, particularly in the Waikato region in New Zealand’s North Island.
