Yealink attempts to partition UPC proceedings from US challenge to Barco patent

By Melissa Ritti ( January 21, 2025, 15:29 GMT | Insight) -- In seeking inter partes review of a Barco NV patent, China’s Yealink Network Technology Co. tells the US Patent and Trademark Office’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board that its proposed construction of various disputed claim terms in a video conferencing patent should “not be construed as admissions or constructions in any other proceeding or patent,” including a dispute currently before the EU’s Unified Patent Court. The patents are “related” — but not so much so that the same constructions would apply in both forums, Yealink says.China’s Yealink Network Technology Co. and its US subsidiary are asking the US Patent and Trademark Office’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board to cancel all 18 claims of a video conferencing system which it says is “remarkably similar to earlier-filed patents.”...
