EU can deploy anti-coercion weapon against US tariffs, Lange says

Bernd Lange, chair of the European Parliament’s trade committee, said the bloc won't hesitate to use its anti-coercion tool to counter illegal US actions. The EU will deploy a nuclear weapon — the anti-coercion tool — if Donald Trump uses tariffs to try to win political concessions linked to Nato or the bloc’s digital regime, a top EU lawmaker said. Bernd Lange, chair of the European Parliament’s trade committee, also argued that the EU is well prepared for a potential trade war, where tariffs are used for economic gains, but warned against escalation and encouraged talks first....
