US FTC Chair Khan held closed meeting to force votes on law enforcement matters, Holyoak says

( January 16, 2025, 21:05 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Republican US Federal Trade Commissioner Melissa Holyoak said outgoing chair Lina Khan held a closed commission meeting today to "force votes on several law enforcement matters." In a post on X, Holyoak said she voted against the meeting and abstained from the votes. Since Jan. 1, the Biden-Harris FTC has pushed through over 30 matters, she said. "It is wholly improper for this lame-duck Commission to expedite law enforcement matters, issue notices and advance notices of proposed rulemakings, release new enforcement policy statements and guidance, and issue interim findings from ongoing 6(b) studies. But it’s no surprise that Chair Khan has continued to flout existing norms," Holyoak said in a dissenting statement. Khan also took the "unusual step" of publicly disclosing the existence of a pending complaint referral to the Department of Justice, she said. Tweet follows below. See attached files....
