DC AG says TikTok can't dismiss addictive algorithms case, citing ruling against Meta

( December 23, 2024, 20:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: DC Attorney General Brian Schwalb urged a DC superior court judge to not dismiss its addictive algorithms lawsuit against TikTok because "TikTok’s arguments that the District’s [Consumer Protection Procedures Act] claims are foreclosed by the [Communications Decency Act] and the First Amendment have now been widely rejected by numerous state courts, including by the Superior Court in a parallel enforcement case involving similar claims brought by the District against another social media company, Meta Platforms, Inc."See attached file....
