Lufthansa sees EU pursue interim measures for Condor (update*)

By Natalie McNelis ( January 15, 2025, 14:51 GMT | Insight) -- Lufthansa has today been served with a charge sheet threatening to order the airline to reinstate Condor's access to Lufthansa's feeder traffic to and from Frankfurt airport under the conditions the two airlines agreed upon in June 2024, in the context of its A++ trans-Atlantic joint venture with United and Air Canada. The move follows the Dec. 3 rejection of an appeal by Condor and the German competition authority to Germany's top appeal court, seeking an injunction against Deutsche Lufthansa rewriting its feeder-traffic deal with its long-haul rival.Lufthansa has today been served with a charge sheet alleging that its A++ trans-Atlantic joint venture with United Airlines and Air Canada restricts competition on the Frankfurt-New York route, and that interim measures to protect rival Condor’s presence on that market are warranted (see here)....
