Google's motion to strike jury demand in US adtech suit should be rejected, states say

( January 6, 2025, 23:18 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A Texas-led group of states said Google's motion to strike a jury demand in their consumer protection and antitrust dispute over the company's alleged illegal monopoly in advertising technology markets should be denied. In their response to Google's motion filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, the states said the Supreme Court last year reaffirmed that the Seventh Amendment to the US Constitution "protects the right to a jury trial in enforcement actions seeking civil penalties." The states also argued that the "right to a jury trial is sacrosanct in federal court." See court filing. ...
