Copyright infringement action over stuffed animals substantially trimmed in Texas

( January 3, 2025, 22:32 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A dispute between competitors in the stuffed animal market will be limited to the felt, white spikes of a bearded dragon named “Pogo," alone, Judge Lee H. Rosenthal of the Southern District of Texas ruled.  According to the court, a reasonable jury could find that a Gila monster stuffed animal by Texas Toy Distribution, or TTD, copied those features but she otherwise denied the parties cross-motions for summary judgment. The remaining stuffed animals designed by California-based AMDL Collections are either unentitled to copyright protection, or dissimilar from the accused plush toys. See attached document....
