China unveils draft revisions to rules protecting integrated circuit layout designs

( December 31, 2024, 04:15 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China’s top intellectual property regulator is seeking public comment on revisions to the Regulations for the Protection of Layout Design of Integrated Circuits. The regulations came into effect on Oct. 1, 2001. According to an explanatory statement by China National Intellectual Property Administration, the proposed amendments aim to delineate the scope of the exclusive rights of IC layout designs in a clearer manner, strengthen rules to curb infringing practices, and introduce incentive measures to promote innovation and application of these designs.
