Amazon must provide US FTC information on UK, EU, Germany, Japan competition probes

( December 28, 2024, 02:42 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Amazon has been ordered by a US federal judge to respond to information requests by the Federal Trade Commission relating to specific public investigations against the company by competition authorites in the EU, UK, Germany and Japan. In an order, US District Judge John Chun of the Western District of Washington agreed with the FTC that regulatory probes under the European Union’s Digital Markets Act; the UK Digital Markets, Competition, and Consumers Bill; and Section 19(e) of Germany’s Competition Act are relevant to the US monopolization suit. Chun, however, denied without prejudice the FTC's request for Amazon's submissions regarding unidentified foreign competition investigations. Chun ordered Amazon to run the search terms to identify a list of competition investigations in foreign jurisdictions and provide sufficient other information to allow the FTC and states to identify whether the subject matter of each foreign investigation overlaps with the present case.See attached document....
