Google submits reply in support of motion for summary judgment on states' DTPA claims

( December 23, 2024, 23:39 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A Texas-led group of states lacks Article III standing to sue on Deceptive Trade Practices Act claims in a Texas federal court, Google told a judge in the Eastern District of Texas. In its reply in support of its motion for summary judgment on the DTPA claims in an adtech monopoly case, Google said none of the states' "claimed harms amounts to an injury in fact to a sovereign or quasi-sovereign interest." The states have also cited cases that "make plain that the DTPA claims belong in state courts, not in this federal court," Google said.  See attached file. ...
